Carl was useless with women. Generally useless, in fact.
“Don’t go there,” Rob replied. “It’s been, what— six months? She’s just messing. You buy it, that’s commitment— you’ll scare her off.” Rob slurped his drink, and hungrily watched Helena’s long legs sashaying across the dance-floor. Too good for Carl. Rob tried to sound casual. “Which jewellers was it, anyway?”
